Archaon passed through the inner gates of the Shrine to Chaos and found himself on a narrow causeway surrounded by hellfire.
As he entered, weary of where the Bloodthirster may strike from, the heat of the neighbouring fires drew his attention to his helmet which had been damaged on the way here. He couldn’t be sure when it had happened, perhaps by the claws of those plague-broken Orcs or by an outcropping shard in the Changer’s maze or perhaps Archaon damaged it himself when being confronted by those visions. Either way, he needed to be wary as the heat of the neighbouring flames scorched his exposed daemon-corrupted skin and set any facial hair alight. He ignored the flames and continued to approach the shrine until suddenly, a shadow burst out from the flames to his right and tossed him across the causeway. Archaon desperately gripped the ground beneath him as half his body dangled towards the never-ending cavern of flame below and gradually lifted himself up, back onto the causeway. As Ka’Bandha prepared for his second charge, Archaon knew this would be the battle of his life…
….
- Angry React: Ka’Bandha uncoiled his whip and lashed out towards the future Everchosen as he approached with his axe in hand. The whip latched itself round the Slayer of Kings as the Bloodthirster attempted to pull the blade from Archaon’s hands only for Archaon to suddenly ignite his blade, sending a searing wave of energy down the whip which scolded the Bloodthirster’s claws in a black flame. Ka’Bandha dropped his whip and proceeded to whale on Archaon, now holding the axe with both arms to administer even greater force. Despite the seeming invincibility of his armour, Archaon knew that his compromised helmet would buckle under such force and so held his shield up to take the brunt of Ka’Bandha’s blows. Yet the daemon of Khorne was too strong even then, causing bones in Archaon’s shield wielding arm to snap and break with each blow of its axe. Sensing that even his shield would soon break, Archaon drew strength from the Slayer of Kings until his arm equalled the greater daemon in strength, allowing him to push back until finally, he wrestled the Bloodthirster’s axe away from the Greater Daemon of Khorne’s hands and before Ka’Bandha could react, he ignited his blade and blasted the daemon of Khorne off its feet. Archaon stood to his feet and picked up Ka’Bandha’s whip which, thanks to his increased strength from his ignited blade, he used to strangle the Bloodthirster to death.
Khorne approved of Archaon’s ferocity and so allowed the hellfire to die away, leaving Archaon standing in a simple shrine. A throne stood at the back of the shrine, with a withered corpse sitting on it. On the top of its withered skull sat the crown he had come to claim. Archaon took the crown and, with his wounds healing and frame swelling with power, he held it to the heavens, both the Crown of Domination and the Mark of Khorne were his!
Now all he needed was the Eye to place in the crown’s socket…….
- Laugh React: Ka’Bandha charged forward in his second attack against the Everchosen, wailing against Archaon’s armour and shield with his massive axe until his axe finally pierced Archaon’s shield which the hopeful everchosen then dropped to prevent his arm from being taken with it as Ka’Bandha grasped onto the shield and tore it in half.
Archaon grasped his blade with both hands to fight the Bloodthirster and managed to parry the daemon’s next blow, only to then be tripped up when Ka’Bandha’s whip lashed itself around his legs. With the everchosen lying on his back, Ka’Bandha clobbered him with a mix of axe blows and punches until Archaon’s sword suddenly ignited and blasted the daemon away from him. With his armour significantly torn and his helmet all but destroyed, Archaon turned to run from the Bloodthirster, leaving the cave and returning back to the maze where he would surely struggle to survive as the Mark of Tzeentch faded from what remained of his armour…….

Archaon stood over Ka’Bandha’s burnt body, with his blade at the daemon’s throat as spoke a single word “Submit!”
The Bloodthirster growled in his face and struggled to get the human off of him so Archaon lifted his blade and stabbed the greater daemon in the abdomen area three times with the Slayer of Kings. “You have fought well and with honour monster. Now yield…the apocalypse calls you to service!” Ka’Bandha roared again and breathed fire across Archaon’s chestplate but the Chaos champion simply stabbed him twice more “Yield beast!”
Finally, Ka’Bandha gave up and accepted Archaon’s victory. “Bring me my crown.” Archaon boomed as the Mark of Khorne phased itself onto his breastplate. Ka’Bandha stood up and walked over to the shrine to collect Archaon’s trophy, clearly with trepidation in his claws and fear in his heart for even the the headpiece’s protector could not resist the Crown of Domination’s dreadful aura as he picked it up and brought it to Archaon. Archaon discarded with his broken chaos lord’s helm and gazed at his new crown as the Bloodthirster kneeled before him. With the Crown of Domination in his grasp Archaon spoke to Ka’Bandha directly “You know what is to come. You know what must be done. *Archaon lifted the helmet on to his head as it fused to his skin, causing his voice to deepen and resonate in a terrifying manner* TOGETHER WE WILL BUILD A NEW HORDE. WE SHALL BE THE SCOURGE OF A HUNDRED KINGDOMS. THE MIGHT OF CHAOS!”

With his armour significantly torn and his helmet all but destroyed, Archaon turned to run from the Bloodthirster only to be halted in his tracks as Ka’Bandha’s whip unspun and coiled around his helmet. He tried to remove his helmet and run but it was too late, for the whip grew tighter and tighter as the Bloodthirster came closer until finally, Ka’Bandha was close enough to tear his head off from his body. As the hopeful everchosen laid on the ground as a mere puddle of innards, his spine sticking out and his armour torn to shreds, Ka’Bandha threw his remaining body off the causeway to fall into the flaming cavern below and kept Archaon’s skull to himself, the latest addition to the Skull Throne…..
- Sad React: Ka’Bandha uncoiled his whip and proceeded to flail with it through the air as he charged, forcing Archaon to duck continuously to avoid the daemon’s snaps until the two clashed in fearsome combat. Archaon slashed at the daemon’s legs with his blade while holding his shield aloft to protect his head. However, just as he was blocking the bloodthirster’s attacks, Ka’Bandha suddenly changed tactic and grabbed Archaon from below, grasping his arm and tearing the shield from his hands. Archaon attempted to slice at the bloodthirster’s arms only to be kicked to the ground. As Archaon lay on the ground in pain, Ka’Bandha dropped his axe and wrapped his whip around Archaon’s helm as a noose so he could hang the Champion of Tzeentch by arm-length. Archaon desperately struggled to escape the noose’s grip and reach for his blade but alas, this seemed impossible.
However, a miracle struck when Aekold Helbrass, the Champion of Tzeentch who had been left at the camp near the polar gates suddenly appeared and used his powers over the breath of life to create a series of routes that knocked Ka’Bandha back and disarmed him of the noose tied around Archaon’s neck. As Archaon freed himself from the noose and reached for his blade, Aekold ran over to him and healed all his wounds in an instant, allowing Archaon to tap into the Slayer of Kings with fully renewed vigour. Ka’Bandha charged one last time as Archaon lifted his blade and unshackled the full force of the daemon within which he then fired at the bloodthirster, destroying it in a single blow. Aekold Helbrass rejoiced at Archaon’s victory and beckoned for him to collect his prize, explaining that he had no idea how he had come here but he was glad he had been able to help.
However, while Archaon may celebrate victory over Ka’Bandha and claim the Crown of Domination now, Khorne looked on in disgust for he knew the truth. Archaon would have lost if it were not for the intervention of Aekold Helbrass, an intervention he suspected had come from Be’lakor……As Archaon crowned himself before his champion, Abrax the Bloody and his warband of beserkers abandoned the Chaos Horde back at the Polar Gates…. Archaon had not earned the Mark of Khorne.
